Together, Jess and Nate have travelled to more than 30 countries —
Chasing surfy towns off the beaten track, culture, connection, and perspective. They’ve always believed that having kids shouldn’t mean slowing down; it just makes the adventure richer.
When Jess fell pregnant with their first child, Sunny, they decided to pause their travel life and settle on the Sunshine Coast to raise their babies and build their first business — a sustainable retail boutique. For that chapter of life, it was perfect.
Seven years on, as the kids grew, so did their craving for adventure — wanting to show their children that there’s a big world out there, full of freedom and spontaneity. So they sold their business and stepped into the unknown once again — moving their family to Bali in search of purpose and a new way of living.
This is where the vision for Lokal Folk was born —
Inspired by their love of travel, sustainability, and letting kids be kids: messy, free, and full of curiosity. Clothes that make parenting easier (and laundry days fewer), designed for life on the go.
Through their travels across Asia and Europe, Jess and Nate also spent time teaching English to children — witnessing first-hand how access to education can completely change a child’s future. That experience shaped their vision for Lokal Folk: to create something that gives back while building a life that feels authentic, connected, and full of meaning.
For them, Lokal Folk isn’t just a kidswear label —
it’s a purpose-led brand driven by community. Every piece is made locally in Bali by artisans they know by name, and every purchase helps fund education programs for children in need.
Together, they’ve built something bigger than clothes:
A movement for conscious families who believe in raising good humans, supporting good people, and letting their kids be kids through a childhood full of adventure.
